Corona Visus News: FOLK CLUB MEETINGS SUSPENDED
It is with great regret that in order to comply with the latest government advice, we are suspending all meetings of the Folk Club until we receive an all clear from the government in the future.
- The Folk Club are at The Bull’s Head from 8.15pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Note this is a slight change from what we have done in the past as, occasionally, this will give a three week gap between the third Tuesday of one month and the first Tuesday of the next.
Who are the East Leake Folk Club?
We’re a group of people, mainly from the village of East Leake, who come together once a fortnight because we all enjoy playing and singing traditional and other music. We’re a very informal bunch who have allowed our folk nights to evolve and grow according to the needs and expectations of those who participate. We meet in The Bull’s Head, East Leake – on Main Street, opposite the Co-op – on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Anyone interested in coming along, just turn up at the Bull’s Head on a club night from about 8.15 onwards.
Ad hoc Singaround Sessions
The Folk Club was formed so that amateur musicians could get together and sing and play music in an informal, stress-free environment. Since our inception all of the members have increased in confidence and proficiency and it was decided in 2013 to introduce an ad hoc singaround session part way through the evening so that those who wish to play solo/duo will have the opportunity to do so. Please note we do not allow microphones or amps at the moment. Most of the time we all just play and sing together – very informally. The club have the words and guitar chords for a large number of songs, including all the songs we regularly sing at the club. We can supply you with a copy, just speak to us at one of our club nights.
From time to time some of our regular members will give performances, usually for charity organisations or to raise money for charity. Email Ray at <EastLeakeFolk@gmail.com> if you would like the club members to come to sing and play for your event.
When do we meet? On the first and third Tuesday evenings in each month at 8.15pm in The Bull’s Head
