Who are the East Leake Folk Club?

We’re a group of people, mainly from the village of East Leake, who come together once a fortnight because we all enjoy playing and singing traditional and other music. We’re a very informal bunch who have allowed our folk nights to evolve and grow according to the needs and expectations of those who participate. We meet in The Nag's Head, East Leake (on Main Street, opposite De Ferrers Close) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Anyone interested in coming along, just turn up at the Nag's Head on a club night from 8pm onwards.

Ad hoc Singaround Sessions

The Folk Club was formed so that amateur singers and musicians could get together and sing and play music in an informal, stress-free environment. Most of the time we all just play and sing together - very informally. While many of our songs are folk songs, we are not limited to folk and we will often sing music hall, pop, rock and any other songs that our members want to sing. The club have the words and guitar chords for a large number of songs, including all the ones we regularly sing at the club. We can supply you with a copy, just speak to us at one of our club nights. While we encourage everyone to join in, it isn't obligatory and anyone who just wants to come and listen is welcome to do so. Part way through the evening, we also have a round of solos/duets so that anyone who wants to do a short spot on their own has the opportunity to do so. Please note we do not use microphones or amplification on our club nights.

Performances

From time to time some of our regular members will give performances, usually for charity organisations or to raise money for charity. Email Ray at <> if you would like the club members to come to sing and play for your event.
