Photo Gallery - Past Scenes
The libraries and museums of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have in their collections, hundreds of thousands of historic photographs. In the past, these treasures were held in filing cabinets and anyone who wanted to see them would have to make a trip to the library or museum - perhaps to several different locations. Thanks to a major award from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the four authorities are now working in partnership to digitise the images and make them available on the Internet, through The Picture the Past website
The images reproduced on the following pages showing scenes of East Leake are but a tiny fraction of the vast collection now available on The Picture the Past website and for any person with an interest in the history of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire a visit to the site is highly recommended. The East Leake Community Website is indebted to Picture the Past for kindly granting permission for this small sample of their remarkable collection to be brought to you direct on our site.
A printed copy of low a resolution image from a home computer is perfectly adequate for homework or study purposes, but for those users wanting to own a top quality glossy photographic copy the Website includes an on-line ordering service. This enables users to browse the collection and order and pay for their selections securely on-line. The high quality prints in various sizes are produced on state of the art equipment and dispatched by first class post. All the income raised from this service goes back into the conservation and preservation of the original pictures.
Publication or commercial use of these images requires separate permission from the copyright holder and there may be a charge for such use. To discuss this further please email admin@picturethepast.org.uk or phone 01773 716967
