Welcome back

Below is a document containing all the information you need to know about our centre re-opening. It includes what activities are available, how to book them and what changes we have made to ensure our staff and customers are safe.

We are excited to welcome all of our customers  back and we understand that there is still a lot of uncertainty, but we hope that the changes we have made and the high standards we have set will help keep our users safe as much as possible.

First of all we would like to say welcome back to East Leake Leisure Centre and a big thank you for your support and understanding during the past few months. We are now ready to open our doors to the public again.

We have been busy making important changes to how the centre operates to ensure our staff and customers are safe whilst using the facilities. This document sets out the changes that we have made to ensure that we keep both the staff and customers safe whilst at the Leisure Centre. The new procedures are based guidelines issued by both government and other industry bodies which is subject to change.

We will be reopening the centre in stages beginning with the gym, exercise classes, tennis courts and casual badminton. These activities will be available from the 27th July. We will continue to update you as and when other activities are able to take place.

Please read through the document carefully before using the centre and we look forward to seeing you again.

Reopening Phase 1- 27th July – 9th August

Reception:

In order to keep customers and staff safe we are implementing a few changes with how our reception area operates.

Booking – We are asking all customer inquiries to be done via email and all bookings to be done over the phone. This includes booking in to the pool, gym or classes. No bookings will be taken over reception to help reduce queues and ensure that all bookings start on time. Customers must also pre pay for their activities when they book them. Members (monthly direct debit / ticket or annual) can book up to 8 days in advance, loyalty card holders can book up to 7 days in advance and non-members can book up to 4 days in advance. Any customers who fail to show up or cancel their booking will be charged the value of your booking, even if you are a membership holder. This means if you have pre paid for your booking you will not be refunded if you do not show.

Signing in – We will be operating a self-scan system for customers using the centre so please remember to bring your loyalty card. If you do not have a loyalty card then you will need to purchase one for £3 when you book your activity, the card will then be ready for you when you sign in. Your temperature will be checked before using the centre and if it is deemed too high you will not be able to use our facilities. Please bear this in mind if you were planning on doing a warm up before coming to the centre as this may affect your result. Also we are only accepting card payments.

Social distancing – We ask that customers abide by the 2 metre social distancing rule throughout the centre. There will be clear signs in and around the centre to help maintain the distance including floor signs around reception indicating where to stand. We will also be implementing a one way system, so there will be different exit points for centre users to prevent overcrowding in reception.

Finally, we are supporting the track and trace system so we will be requesting contact information of anyone using the centre and ensuring your details are up to date.

The Gym:

Booking – 45 minuet slots will be available to book via phone only, this is to reduce contact and queues at reception. The slots will begin at 6.15am Monday to Friday, 7.15am Saturday and 8.15am Sunday and will be available every quarter past the hour, with the last one finishing at 9pm Monday to Friday, 6pm Saturday and 8pm Sunday. There will be two types of gym sessions available to book, a weights session in the fitness suite or a cardio session in the gymnasium. The dance studio will comprise of 5 stretch and tone stations with a mat and a few weights at each station for customers to use as part of their 45 minute gym slot. These will not be bookable stations but if one is available you may use it.

Weight sessions will have a limit of 6 users per session, cardio sessions will have a limit of 12 users per session. To help keep the gym fair and available to everyone customers will be able to use the gym facilities a maximum of 3 times per week.

Cleaning – Cleaning products will be available for customers to clean the equipment down after they have finished. There is also 15 minuets between each session for staff to clean equipment down and to check everything is to a good standard before the next session starts. In addition to this the gym will be closed between 1pm – 2.15pm each day and from 9pm Monday to Friday, 6pm Saturday and 8pm Sunday so staff can carry out a deep clean on all equipment and surrounding areas.

Toilets and changing facilities – We ask that all customers come the centre ready in their gym kit. Our changing and shower facilities will be closed. The fitness suite toilets will still be available, lockers will not be available

A few new things – To keep in line with government guidance we are asking that customers to not use their own towels in the gym but use the paper towels provided. Whilst using the gym we ask that all customers respect the 2 metre distance rule throughout, and unless you are using the gym with a member of your household spotting will not be permitted. The water fountain is for refilling bottles only, please do not drink directly from them.

Any customers that are not adhering to the new guidelines we have put in place may be asked to leave.

Exercise classes:

Booking – All exercise classes must be booked via phone only, this is to reduce contact and queues at reception.

Class sizes and location – All of our exercise classes will now take place in the sports hall, or where possible outside. This has given us the opportunity to keep classes sizes the same and in some instances we are have been able to increase capacity.

Cleaning – Any equipment used during a class will be thoroughly cleaned before and after use. There will be cleaning products available for customers to clean their own equipment as well.

Toilets and changing facilities – We ask that all customers come the centre ready in their exercise kit. Our changing and shower facilities will be closed. The fitness suite toilets will still be available, however lockers will not.

A few new things – We ask that all customers respect the 2 metre distance rule throughout using our facilities. Any updates to our aerobics timetable can be seen on our website, please make sure you check your class start times before you book. Please note that we have had to increase our ventilation so some classes may feel colder than before, we recommend that if you take part in a low impact class you wear warmer clothing.

Any customers that are not adhering to the new guidelines we have put in place may be asked to leave.

Casual badminton and tennis courts:

Booking – Anyone wanting to book a court must pre book and pre pay before coming to the centre. We will be able to let customers know availability when they call.

Who can play with who – In order to keep within government guidelines customers can play 1 on 1 with someone outside their household maintaining social distancing, no doubles, or a single household can play on a court together.

Equipment for hire – We will be unable to provide customers with any equipment so please remember to bring your own

The Swimming Pool:

Although our pool isn’t opening just yet below are the details of how it will operate when we do.

Booking – 45 minuet slots will be available to book via phone only, this is to reduce contact and queues at reception. The slots will begin at 6.30.am Monday to Friday, and will be available, in most cases at every half past the hour, with the last one finishing at 9.15pm. Please see the pool timetable for exact times. Saturday slots will begin at 7am and finish at 6pm. Sunday slots will begin at 8am and finish at 8pm. The pool timetable will be updated with new schedule sessions either lane swim or general swim. Please note that the 45 minuet slots include changing times.

Lane swim sessions will consist of 2 lanes divided by a lane rope down the centre of the pool, and will be limited to 8 users per session (4 per lane). General sessions will have a limit of 15 users per session where single households will be able to swim together, but customers from different households must maintain social distancing. To help keep the pool fair and available to everyone customers will be able to use the pool facilities a maximum of 3 times per week.

Cleaning – Customers will be allocated a cubicle (if necessary) to change in and also a locker, this will help reduce the amount of surfaces being touched. There are 15 minuets between each session for staff to clean poolside and the changing rooms down. In addition to this the pool will be closed during lunch times and in the evening so staff can carry out a deep clean on all equipment and surrounding areas. Please refer to the pool time table for these closures.

Toilets and changing facilities – We ask that all customers come the centre ready in their swimming kit under their clothes and avoid using the changing and shower facilities as much as possible. We will be allocating each customer a cubicle (if necessary) and a locker using a stem. Customers may have a rinse only in the shower before and after swimming and must avoid washing hair thoroughly – this is so staff can clean poolside down properly before the next session starts. Only 4 showers will be available to ensure we’re maintaining social distancing. The poolside toilets will still be available, however the group changing rooms will be closed.

A few new things – To keep in line with government guidance we are implementing Swim England’s guidance for users which includes:

Respect · People of different standards and abilities will use the pool. Please respect their right to enjoy their swim. · Do not make physical contact with other participants.

Speed and overtaking · Choose your lane using the fast/medium and medium/slow signsnd by watching those already swimming. Please do not overtake whilst swimming. Before pushing off at each turn, check to see if anyone faster is approaching, move to the corner of the lane, face away from the pool and let them past

Direction · Please follow the directional signs and move across to the appropriate side of the lane for each length.

Space · Always attempt to maintain appropriate social distance between yourself and another swimmer.

Strokes · Wide strokes such as butterfly should be avoided when the lanes become busy. If you change to a slower stroke as part of your session, think about moving lanes if there are less than four in the other lane

Equipment · Please bring your own equipment – we will not be lending any out.

Resting · Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath after completing your swim, please be mindful that others using the lane will want to keep on swimming without stopping; so keep yourself to the edge of the lane allowing others to turn at the wall, turning head away and allowing others to maintain social distancing measures.

  • Stay hydrated by bringing your own ‘pre-filled’ water bottle on to poolside during your swim.

If customers need additional support to use the pool e.g. the pool hoist then please let us know prior to coming to the centre so we can have everything set up before you arrive.

Any customers that are not adhering to the new guidelines we have put in place may be asked to leave.

Making a Booking

Following the information above we will begin taking bookings from Monday 20th July at 9am. We will then continue to take them from 9am – 3pm until Friday 24th July. The centre will then open at 06:15am on Monday 27th July when you will be able to book throughout our opening times.

Additional information:

If you are an annual member your membership will be automatically unfrozen from the 27th July. If you would like it to remain frozen then please contact us.

As well as the above changes we are also providing hand sanitisers throughout the centre and increasing the frequency of our cleaning regimes centre.

Face masks can be worn by customers entering the centre however in accordance to government guidelines customers must NOT wear them whilst carrying out exercise.

If you or anyone of your household show signs of Covid-19 you must not come into the leisure centre.

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
  • If you have been contacted by the track and trace system and advised to self-isolate then you must do so and not use our facilities.
